Up coming, Paris 2025
VERNISSAGE : October 21 - 7pm - Free admission
25 new works – oil painting, collage, ink.
Every day, we traverse landscapes, whether urban, natural, or virtual. Every day, we move through these landscapes and experience them emotionally, whether consciously or unconsciously. These encounters, whether brutally intense or infinitely gentle, leave an imprint on our bodies as much as on our souls.
These landscapes shape us, build us, far more than we realize.
In this new exhibition, “Inner Landscapes, My True Nature,” I wanted to bring what happens behind the scenes out into the open. To do this, I drew on my earlier paintings. I cut them up, sometimes slicing right through them, with intense joy, so I could recompose them. These painting-collages recycle in order to reconstruct the narrative and give the existing, existence itself, a renewed strength.
Karine Morenville is an architect, a creator of spaces and images through painting as much as through words. Constantly seeking poetry in her surroundings, she reveals the intimate, discovers, and questions.
She lives and works in Normandy
"Observing the beautiful Normandy nature develops my emotional background and gives me inspiration and creative energy."
Karine Morenville, born in 1969, is a French contemporary painter living and working in Normandy, France.
Karine has been a painter for 30 years, combining her professional architecture practice with her artistic output.
Inspired by nature and the Normandy landscape, her paintings are striking by their contrast between figurative elements and abstraction.
Uniquely, she shapes the materials with palette knives and a razor blade with a sense of precision and detail which invites the viewer to imagine their own narrative, opening a dialogue. Everyone, according to their life history, can imagine their own story and Karine likes to share these stories and learn from each other.
Otherness, poetry and emotional exchanges are her way of living art.
Constantly searching to develop and renew her art, Karine has exhibited her paintings in Paris and in Honfleur since 2016. Each exhibition brings together new paintings with accompanying texts which highlight her personal imaginative journey.
"I started to paint with oil on canvas when I was a teenager, but I really found my own way at Architecture school where I began using a specific technique which is now my "trademark" : I paint all details with a razor blade, background with palette knives. I no longer use brushes.
In 2015, I participated in Claude Yvel's master class. Claude is a French painter who at 94 years old has spent his life rediscovering the values and the working techniques of the great European masters of the 17th and 18th centuries. He shares his passion with kindness and rigor. For my part, I discovered the joy of working with natural pigments and walnut oil : the sensuality of mixing the material, the chance to choose the consistency, smoothness and brightness of colors."
Karine Morenville
At the beginning, no idea and no road to follow, just an automatic painting. The hidden depth of unconscious expresses itself before being redrawn when multiple forms appear. The story is written as it is being made.
Chance and coincidence are my improvised light.
