painting and writing

Karine Morenville has been a French, discreet painter for 20 years.

She lives in Normandy, where she contemplates landscapes and life in pursuit of the movement and the evolution of the world.

She shapes the materials with palette knives and a razor blade with a sense of detail which opens our imagination.

Her art is between figurative and abstraction, and everyone, according to their life history, can imagine their own story. And she likes to share these stories and learn from each other.

Otherness, poetry and emotional exchanges are her way of living art.

"Observing beautiful Normandy's nature develops my emotional background and gives me inspiration and creative energy."

"I started to paint with oil on canvas when I was a teenager, but I have really found my own way at the Architecture school where I began using a specific technique which is now my "trademark" : I paint all details with a razor blade, background with palette knives. I no longer use brushes.

In 2015, I participated in Claude Yvel's master class. Claude is a French over 85 years old painter, who has spent his life to rediscover the values and the working techniques of the great European masters of the 17th and 18th centuries. He shares his passion with kindness and rigor. For my part, I discovered the joy of working with natural pigments and walnut oil : the sensuality of mixing the material, the chance to choose the consistency,  smoothness and brightness of colors."

At the beginning, no idea and no road to follow, just an automatic painting. The hidden depth of unconscious expresses itself before being redrawn when multiple forms appear. The story is written as it is being made.

Chance and coincidence are my improvised light.
